Diagnostic Services

Digital Radiology

At The Vet, we use radiology (X-rays) to examine your pet's bones, lungs, heart, abdomen, oral cavity and other areas, as well as for diagnosing and monitoring many medical and surgical conditions. If we suspect your pet has a fractured bone, has swallowed a foreign object, or is suffering from a heart problem, an X-ray can tell us what we need to know.

To provide you with the highest-quality pet care, The Vet has invested in a state-of-the-art digital X-ray machine. the many important advantages to digital X-rays include

  • Immediately viewable on a computer
  • Faster, more accurate diagnosis due to clearer, more detailed images
  • Less time to process
  • Ability to email to a board-certified veterinary radiologist

Advanced diagnostic capabilities are an extremely important part of veterinary medicine. Our investment in digital X-ray technology reflects our commitment to offer you and your pet the best, most comprehensive healthcare available.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a painless, safe, non-invasive procedure used to evaluate your pet's internal organs. It is one of the many ways we strive to give you peace of mind when it comes to your pet's health. Using sound waves, ultrasound produces a real-time moving picture of your pet's organs that allow us to visualize objects that cannot be detected by X-rays alone.

Because of our commitment to provide the highest quality care, we have an in-house ultrasound and routinely do abdominal ultrasound procedures. A full ultrasound procedure takes between 15-45 minutes and generally requires only light sedation unless we are performing a biopsy, which will require a heavier anesthetic. Results are generally available in 24-36 hours as we always have a board-certified radiology review the ultrasound images. Once we have the results of the ultrasound available we will work with you to develop a plan to treat your pet.

In-House Laboratory

The Vet houses a full-service diagnostic laboratory that allows us to perform complete blood counts, chemistry profiles, and urinalysis. With our advanced laboratory, we have the ability to analyze how well your pet's internal organs and processes are functioning. Laboratory testing allows our veterinarians to obtain important information for assessing your pet's overall systemic health without the need for invasive, expensive procedures. Thus, we maintain an advanced in-house laboratory and can perform tests during your pet's wellness exam or when we suspect your companion may have a health issue.
